Country: occupied Palestinian territory
JERUSALEM [ACTED News] – A winter storm brought uninterrupted rain and wind, followed by significant snowfall across Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory early January. In the West Bank and Gaza, the wind and floods impacted 12,500 Palestinians, according to estimates by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), destroying both residential and agricultural shelters. The urban areas in the north, including Tulkarm and Qalqilya, witnessed the worst. ACTED is leading the shelter coordination group to provide, in partnership with the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and OCHA, assistance to the most vulnerable communities in the northern urban areas in need of shelter.
